Introduction

Bulletins Widgets and Gadgets provide you an immediate, cost effective and simple way to communicate to your staff, suppliers and customers directly to their text capable mobile devices.

They use a simple messaging API to send SMS messages and get lists of recently sent and received messages. For more information on Bulletins simple messaging API see the API documentation.

Bulletin has 4 Widgets/Gadgets which you can use

  • Windows Vista sidebar gadget – Used with Vista Sidebar
  • Yahoo! Widget – Used with the Yahoo Widget engine on either Mac OS X or Windows
  • Dashboard Widget – Used with Dashboard on Mac OS X v10.4 upwards
  • igoogle Gadget – used on your igoogle page, google desktop or integrated into any website

Note: to use the Yahoo! Widget you will need to download the Yahoo! Widget Engine.

Downloading a Widget/Gadget

To download a Widget/Gadget follow one of the links below to the Widget/Gadget that suits you best

Signing up

You will need to have your mobile handy to signup
Your number will need to be entered in international format

Signing up for one of Bulletins widgets or Gadgets is easy, simply download and install the Widget/Gadget that suits you best then press the "Signup" Button on the bottom of the Widget/Gadget.

A new browser window will then load with the signup form, Follow through this process and a SMS will be sent with your username and password.

Logging in

To log in enter your username and password and press the 'Done' button.

For security reasons your password will not be stored on your computer

Sending a Message

To send a message enter a recipient mobile number (in International Format) in the 'Destination Number' Field and the message in the 'Message Text' field and press the send button

To reply to a message double click on the message in the recent messages list (This will populate the 'Destination Number' field with the recipients mobile number) and enter the message in the 'Message Text' field and press the send button

Through the Widget/Gadget you may only send a message to one recipient at a time, if you wish to send to more look at upgrading to Bulletin Messenger.

NOTE: If you are a current Bulletin Messenger User you may send to Contacts in your address book.

Message List

Viewing sent and received messages

Sent and received messages are shown in the 'Recent messages' field and can be toggled between by pressing the send/receive tabs. This will show a brief summary of each message, to view the full message details single click on the desired message.

Status Codes

Each message in your sent message list will be either in green (for received messages) or red (for messages that were not received). To view the status of a message single click on the desired message.

Depending on the Network the messages are sent to, some of the following Status messages may or may not appear.

RECEIVED The message has been received by the mobile
UNREACHABLE The message could not be delivered to the mobile.
SENT The message has been sent to the network for delivery
NOT RECEIVED The message could not be delivered to the mobile. This may not be a permanant error so try again if you are sure of the number. Check the number is correct and in International Format.
EXPIRED The message could not be delivered within five days, and has been expired
REJECTED The message has not been sent
NO FUNDS The message has not been sent. You must increase your available funds by depositing money or requesting a line of credit

NOTE: The service provider reserves the right to charge for all messages sent via the system regardless of the delivery status.

Refreshing sent and received message lists

Message lists are automatically refreshed every ten minutes (from when you log in). You can also refresh this list manually by pressing on the refresh button

Checking your balance

To view your balance press the Information and Preferences button

If you do not have a billing account or if you have an invoiced relationship with Bulletin Wireless you will not be able to view your balance

Topping up your account

Once your account balance has reached zero you will not be able to send messages any more so you will have to top up your account.

To do this press the Information and Preferences button then the make a Payment button

This will open a new browser window; you will need to enter your username and password which will load up the 'My Account page'. Press the 'Make a Payment' button and fill out the form provided (payments may be made through PayPal or by credit card).
